FAQ

What is identified mode?

1 min readUpdated September 26, 2026

Identified mode is an optional feature available to School and Department tier accounts. When a host enables it for a game, participants join with their name and school ID or email address instead of choosing a nickname. This allows schools to attribute results to specific students.

Data collection:

  • By default, participants join with a nickname they choose and are not asked for any personal details.
  • When a school admin enables identified mode, participants provide their name and either their school ID or email address when joining. Your school collects and controls this information. QuizWhizzer stores it solely to attribute game results for your school's use.

Who controls the data:

When your school enables identified mode, your school is the data controller for the participant information collected. Your school determines whether to enable this feature and is responsible for compliance with applicable data protection requirements.

Hosts on the School tier can choose to enable or disable identified mode per game. It is not required and remains off by default.
